Edward Weston once said that 'photography as a creative expression -- or what you will -- must be 'seeing' plus: seeing alone would mean factual recording -- the illustrator of catalogues does that. The 'plus' is the basis of all arguments on 'what is art.' For me, the endevour of photography is summed up in this famous quote that Weston wrote in a letter to Ansel Adams. For it is not by merely capturing the factual world around us that elevates our work to the artistic realm but rather by 'seeing' within us how this world resonates on our souls and then being able to express that in the printed form - this is what forms the basis of art.
